The Growler BC Spring/Summer 2022 Issue Now Available

VANCOUVER, BC – The Spring/Summer 2022 issue of The Growler, a publication subtitled the “B.C. Craft Beer & Cider Guide”, is now available.

Contents of the new issue include the usual listings of breweries and cideries in the province, plus:

Noelle Phillips delves into bitters, a once-maligned beer style, that is making waves in the B.C. beer scene. She also highlights the B.C. breweries that took home Gold in the 2021 Canadian Brewing Awards!

In this issue’s Style Snapshot, Crystal Luxmore takes a look at the origins of Gose (not to be confused with Gueze), giving us food pairing suggestions as well as a list of must-try B.C. examples.

So, you can hold your own in a conversation about beer styles, huh? But how’s your grasp on cider? Resident cider expert, Matt Cavers, explores a range of cider styles and their complexities, complete with prime local examples.

Covid restrictions have all but eliminated bar service in tasting rooms across the province, thereby changing a vital and unique social aspect of the tasting room experience. As restrictions begin to ease, Rob Mangelsdorf is hopeful that it won’t become another Covid casualty.

In Brewer Vs. Brewer, Joe Wiebe chats with two veteran brewers, Sean Hoyne and Matt Phillips, about celebrating milestone anniversaries in the midst of a pandemic and gains their insight into how the industry has evolved in the last couple decades.

This issue’s mouth-watering recipe comes to us from Chef Jordan Braun of Nelson’s Broken Hill Restaurant—a Hot Mess Sandwich paired with Colour and Shape from Superflux.

The Growler Volume 8 Issue 1 is available now at breweries, cideries, liquor stores, taprooms, and other retail locations throughout British Columbia. It can also be purchased online individually or as part of an annual subscription, and select articles will be available to read on the magazine’s website.
