Wellington Brewery Announces Queen of Craft 2022 Event Series and Releases Queen of Craft IPA

GUELPH, ON – After two years of taking place online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Wellington Brewery has announced a return to in-person gatherings for the 2022 edition of its Queen of Craft series of beer education events for women.

The first three events in the series will feature matinee and evening sessions taking place at 10C Shared Space (42 Carden St., Guelph), including the following:

  • Sat April 23rd: The Queen’s Verdict – “Using the BJCP guide for judging beers and styles, participants will do blind trials of brews, only knowing the beer style. Refine your palate and figure out which brews prevail.”
  • Sat April 30th: Crowns & Chemistry – “Do you know how many quality control processes beer goes through before it’s okay to be packaged? And then after packaging, how many things can go awry with your batch? With the help of Welly’s Lab Technician, we will walk you through the chemistry of brewing beer!”
  • Sat May 7th: The Divine Trinity – “Join our journey into the deep, delicious Divine Trinity; beer, cheese and chocolate. These curated pairings will have you entering a state of metaphysical elation, these combinations will have you in flavour ecstasy, these perfect matches will be monumental for your mouth – but also you’ll learn cool stuff about the makers and processes behind each luscious product.”

The final event will take place at Wellington Brewery:

  • Sat May 14th: Unpacking Beer – “This event will have you in the know about what’s happened over the past year with trends, politics, ingredients and things that have shifted craft beer culture. We are going to balance the light with the heavy for a fun, eye-opening event that will leave you questioning all you *think* you know about beer.”

Full details and tickets for all events are available on the Queen of Craft 2022 web page.

Also announced is the release of Queen of Craft IPA (6.1% abv):

With bright citrus hop aromatics, your first sip is a burst of mandarin, orange, grapefruit pith and a hint of coconut. Finishing dry, this juicy and refreshing brew will have you reaching for more.

Queen of Craft IPA is available now at the Wellington retail shop and online store, and features a label designed by artist Trisha Abe who also created the poster for the event series.

100% of profits from the Queen of Craft event series, and 50 cents from each can sold of Queen of Craft IPA, will be donated to Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis.
